Game of Thrones, the Touring Exhibition

The famous HBO TV show announced recently that there won’t be new Game of Thrones episodes until 2019, which is very bad news to the legions of fans who anxiously awaits the outcome of the show. Luckily, the Museu Marítim de Barcelona hosts until March 11th, 2018 an exhibition entitled “GOT, The touring exhibition“. The props used in the show, the original costumes or the decorations are some of the Westeros paraphernalia you will find in this exhibition in Barcelona, a great way to enjoy the time until the returning of the show. It opens every day except Mondays and the price is 10 euros, with an optional audio guide for the price of 6 euros.

Ancient music: A 3000 years journey through the rhythms of the world

Caixa Forum and the “Músicas en la antigüedad” exhibition put the rhythm in our events list. From February 9th to May 6th, you can enjoy this exhibition in Barcelona, organized by the Obra Social ‘la Caixa’ foundation, the Musée du Louvre and the Musée du Louvre-Lens. The exhibition is focused on the music of ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece and Rome, allowing you to know the uses and formats of that ancient sounds. With nearly 400 works from different sources, the exhibition will take you to an acoustic journey through the last three millenniums.

Brassaï: from Paris to Barcelona

Gyula Halasz, better known as Brassaï, is an internationally recognized Hungarian photographer, considered by many as one of the best photography artists worldwide. Brassaï has developed over time a big piece of work focused in the city of Paris, and now the people of Barcelona will enjoy them in the Fundació Mapfre Exhibition. From February 19th until May 13th, and with a symbolic price of 3 euros, you can discover the best portraits of the Parisian night and the work of one of the great artists of the twentieth century.

William Morris, first time in Spain

Designer, craftsman, entrepreneur, poet and social agitator among other things, William Morris founded the British Arts and Crafts movement and is considered one of the inventors of modern design. The Juan March foundation and the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) are hosting an exhibition, the first in Spain, consisting of more than 300 pieces of furniture, textiles, wallpapers, jewelry, glass, ceramics and more. From February 22th to May 20th you can get acquainted of the many faces of this amazing artist.

Disney: the art of storytelling

In the age of technology, many children today don’t know Disney’s role in the development of the animation industry. From March 23th to June 24th, you can learn the literary origins and reinterpretations of old tales made by the Walt Disney company, in addition to their artistic merits. The Caixa Forum Museum, located in Avenida de Francesc Ferrer, will give the little ones the opportunity to see and understand how the world of animation grew up and expand until becoming what it is today. The price of the ticket is only 4 euros, and it’s the perfect plan for the whole family: kids and those who want to feel like kids again.

Joan Miró Foundation: Past, present and future

In 1968, Joan Miró created his own Foundation so international artists and people from all over the world had a place to express themselves artistically. In the Joan Miró Foundation we find many of his most celebrated paintings, sculptures, murals and ceramics. The foundation is near the Montjuic Mountain and the cost of the ticket to visit it is 12 euros. It’s open from Tuesday to Sunday, and is a must for both Joan Miró fans and contemporary art lovers.

Gala Dalí, MNAC

From July 6th to October 14th, 2018, the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) gives us the opportunity to get to know Elena Ivanovna, also known as Gala, Salvador Dali´s romantic partner for many years. During her relationship with the famous Catalan artist, Gala became an artist herself and has the co-authorship of several Dali works of art that you can see in this exhibition in Barcelona. The MNAC brings you the history of the woman behind the genius, one of the most unknown, yet most influential women in the life of this immortal artist born in Cadaqués.

MACBA, cultural benchmark in Barcelona

“Beneath the surface” is an exhibition that’s been opened since October 2017, and will remain open to the public until November 1st, 2018. The Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) presents forty works from their collection and three from the “La Caixa” Foundation’s Contemporary Art Collection. Ignasi Aballí, Antoni Tàpies, Lucio Fontana, Karla Black or Art & Language are some of the names that contribute to make this visit a unique experience. The price of the ticket is 10 euros.
